Miroslav Petráš - Home

Cellist Miroslav Petráš /*1948 in Kyjov/,

Professor of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, a pupil of Saša Večtomov, is a laureate of the International Competition "Prague Spring" and winner of the national Beethoven Competition in Hradec nad Moravicí /CZE/, and others.

He has presented concerts in most European countries, in North and South America, Japan and Taiwan. He became a concert master of the Prague Symphony Orchestra, with which entity he played solo cello concertos at many concerts in the Czech Republic and abroad.

His characteristic interpretation of concertos by Dvorak and Saint-Saens are also recorded on CDs. His compact discs featuring sonatas by Z. Kodaly Op. 8, and R. Strauss Op. 6, bear out his excellence as well. Miroslav Petráš also teaches at Prague Conservatoire and is a member of juries of many music competitions.

He is member of the Czech Trio. He has been working at Bohuslav Martinů Piano Quartet for almost 30 years.
He used to act as a lector of  seminars and masterclasses every year.
